Suzanne E. Shapiro

Suzanne E. Shapiro is a fashion historian and the author of Nails: The Story of the Modern Manicure (Prestel, 2014). Shapiro also specializes in collection management and has been a steward of major fashion archives (Gap Inc. and PVH Corp.) and cultural institutions including The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Weeksville Heritage Center. A graduate of Vassar College and New York University (M.A. Costume Studies), Shapiro lives in Brooklyn, New York.  She takes inspiration from culture high and low and believes firmly that while preservation is essential, so is access to our shared cultural heritage.
